wintery lines

During winter, seeing the silhouette of trees filling the sky is so enjoyable to me. If I knew how to draw, I believe trees would often be a main subject.  Perhaps that's why I photograph them so much. This shot was taken on a particularly moody day in the park, but I like that a peek of sun happened to appear between the clouds just before I clicked the shutter button. It's the little things for sure.

  4. I took a drawing class where we drew bare trees like this. Our teacher had us draw the negative space instead of drawing the positive. It was difficult, but ended up nice. I love this photograph.

  8. It is indeed the little things...and I love how you've captured the delicate silhouette of the tree with the birds and the sun peeking through. Is not the stark nakedness of trees against the winter light one of the great beauties of the natural world?

  9. Have you ever considered drawing, Alexandria? It seems something that might come quite naturally to a thoughtful and contemplative person such as yourself. And...I adore this photograph.

  10. Thank you everyone! for your wonderful thoughts.

Denise: I have dreamed of learning to draw. I'll admit I've never taken an art class... perhaps that is something I should work on to remedy.
