rendering simple

I have a simple philosophy: Fill what's empty.  Empty what's full.  Scratch where it itches.
~Alice Roosevelt Longworth

Recently, I've been tackling all sorts of things that are not fun, but are in need of attending to.  After giving a solid amount of time towards them, it's been helpful to spend moments reading, taking photographs, and cooking.  What simple things do you enjoy that make all the difference?

Good stuff:

  1. going for long walks. without my camera, because that would keep it from being something simple. just walk and think and put things back into perspective...

  2. i hope it feels better now that the things that needed your attention have been taken care of.
well maybe it is going to sound weird but ... to sleep, daydream, go for a quiet hike by myself are a luxury i don't always have and make the difference when i do !

  4. I like to clear what needs to be done first also.
I like the refreshing shower after getting some dirty work done.

  5. recently: the one-hour bike ride to the garden, the digging, planting and harvesting.
there was a time when i just took the train to a lake and went for a long walk or a ferry crossing. haven't done that in a long time.

  6. lately, I have been laying low. I am been hanging with friends, taking some pictures, going to the library, and writing. oh and listening to my music collection. It has been super refreshing.

One simple thing that cheers me is to look at the many lovely photo blogs, like yours, that exist. I discovered yours not that long ago and enjoy the thoughtful quotes that you include with your images.
    I enjoy visiting your site/sight.

  8. I love that quote! The simple things for me right now are the right playlist, good coffee, going for a walk.

  9. i simple
    (and productive)
    enjoyment
    is
    organizing.

    sometimes
    my brain is
    so cluttered
    and loud
    to put
    the world
    around me
    in order
    (a nicely ordered
    cabinet,
    paperwork well-organized
    in a folder,
    etc.)
    is incredibly
    enjoyable
    and
    gives me
    a
    little
    peace.
    xo
