homemade fern

Last month I found a free fern pattern and decided to give it a try.  One of the best parts about the process was being able to listen to radio programs as the small stitches formed something more.  In the past, I remember doing many cross-stitch projects as a little girl and then promptly giving them away.  This one though I'd like to keep.  For the future I think it would be lovely to make more designs and end up with a nature collection in frames.

This is such a great new song from their upcoming album January 18th.  Enjoy!

  1. I love this idea. I also used to cross-stitch as a girl...And give them all away.

  4. I love your nature collection idea! That sounds wonderful and this fern seems like the perfect first piece. My mom is a huge cross-stitching fan so I tried it when I was young but couldn't really get into it. I would like to find a soothing hobby similar to cross-stitch though. I'm hoping knitting will be it once I learn how to do it!

  6. nice. I haven't done cross-stick in ages, but I'm a little worried my boyfriend would drop dead if I started again now... but then again, he lived through worse ;)

  7. What a beautiful little fern! I've done some cross-stitch in the past too, and it always amazes me how a picture slowly starts to emerge out of the tiny stitches.
