The last part of summer has arrived and I'm loving all the delicious varieties offered at the farmers' market. J. and I bought some romaine lettuce and the leaves were so big that we made sandwich wraps with the lettuce instead of tortillas. It was completely scrumptious.

p.s. I always thought of rhubarb as a fruit, but recently discovered it's botanically classified as a vegetable. It reminds me of the avocado and how some make it a sweet treat and others use it more as a salty combination.

  9. I believe there is debate over the cucumber and tomato too. I'd like to eat everything in your photographs, no matter how they are classified.

akane: I love that they are in season now.

Ida: It's so fun to find out the different ways that people use food.

aipingplum: Welcome back! and I hope you try the sandwich wrap sometime.

M.: That would be lovely to see, yes please!

lavienou veau: Thank you, I am fond of the colours found in produce.

kristina: It is, good eye! I am sucker for Nigel Slater's recipes. I like to sauté chard with a little bit of olive oil. Once cooked I add a dash of vinegar, a dash of tamari and a handful of almonds...then I sauté all of it together. It makes a lovely meal.

Denise: Oh yes and I wish I could bring some over to you to share!

Anna: Thank you, It's really addicting taking photos at the market for sure.

  12. Farmers market rules! We're kind of celebrating the autumn here since we're harvesting all the vegetables (and all that), theres always local produced vegetables to buy. This is one of the things that is so awesome about the autumn :)
