blossoms unfolding

A light exists in spring
Not present on the year
At any other period.
~Emily Dickinson
Early this morning I was thinking about Korea and how it too is very pretty in the spring. For the small space of time with the plum, peach or cherry blossoms bursting, it is divine to see.
Nearly every Sunday, I remember piling into a car for road trips with Jung Suk, Sang Min, and Danny. There was always a sense of anticipation and we’d arrive ready to explore. Kyung Ju was one of the best places to find row upon row of trees blooming magnificently. It felt like what I imagine stepping into a photograph would be. Vibrant colors, sunny, people walking or bicycling underneath the branches and a light breeze spreading the petals everywhere.p.s. A wonderful Korean children's picture book author and illustrator is Taeeun Yoo. Her book The Little Red Fish is a treasured one as well as her art works titled One Spring Day and Tea Shop.

  1. These look like post cards! How pretty.
